Music mInistries @ FUMC

FUMC Hot Springs is committed to finding God in music.  Whether you join the Traditional Chancel Choir, The ConneXion Praise Team, lead Children's Choir, or work with the technical team, God is using you as His instrument.

Below are the different ways to be involved every aspect of our music ministry.  For information on our traditional music choirs, contact Dr. Tish Davenport. and for information on our contemporary worship team, contact Lauren Britton.

Chancel Choir

Our two traditional worship service choirs are made up of adults who love music and lifting their voices in praise on Sunday mornings.  In addition to the usual anthems and other “service” music offerings each Sunday, these two groups regularly present music appropriate to the special seasons of the church year, such as Easter and Christmas.

There is no tryout required to be a part of the FUMCHS choirs. All you need is a love of God, music, and a desire to be a part of a group of adults who love their Lord, each other, and giving God their best in music.

Does your work schedule prohibit your regular involvement in a church choir?  If so, then being a “Seasonal Singer” may be for you.  Get involved with our choral ministry during special seasons of the church year, such as Christmas and Easter, when larger choral works are often presented.

To become a member of the choir, contact the Director of Traditional Music,

Dr. Tish Davenport.

Handbell choirs

First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs is blessed with four opportunities for adults, youth, and children to ring in a handbell choir.

Our Celebration and Jubilation! adult handbell ringers regularly contribute to worship on Sunday mornings and at other times during the church year, especially during the Holy Week / Easter and Christmas seasons. Both groups have fun each year at handbell festival—a highlight of the year occurring each February. Celebration Bells currently meet at 11:00 a.m. on Mondays; Jubilation! Bells meet at 5:30 pm on Tuesdays.

Our church possesses two five-octave sets of Schulmerich bells, a set of Suzuki handchimes, and their own rehearsal room complete with piano for pieces arranged for instrumental accompaniment.

If you are desire to be able to play an instrument, consider learning handbells, as they are an instrument that one can sound good on within just a short period of time. Or, if you are an accomplished handbell ringer, consider the handbell ministry at First United Methodist Church. We have a place for both beginners or seasoned ringers!

The ConneXion Praise Team

If you enjoy some of the current praise and worship artists of today, then you’ll enjoy The ConneXion, our Contemporary Worship experience at 9:00am on Sunday mornings. The Praise Band for this service is made up of keyboard, acoustic, electric and bass guitars, drums, percussion and vocals.

Technical teams are also needed for this service. Audio, lighting, video and set up/ tear down teams are a great way to serve if you’re more of a “behind the scenes” type of person. For more information contact our ConneXion Worship Leader Lauren Britton.
