Prayer & Worship

Prayer

Prayer is communicating with God.  It is both talking and listening.  Just as in relationships and communication with others, there is a myriad of styles and ways of sharing.  Our personalities many times affect the way we talk with others.  Some of us are comfortable talking in front of large groups, others of us feel comfortable one on one.  Some of us are more formal and reserved, while others of us are boisterous and emotional.  No one form of prayer is correct.  What’s important is that you begin, that you are honest, and that you allow God to speak to you.

I don’t know how to pray.

Worship

Worship is the expression of our love and adoration for God. It can be something private and personal or something that is done in the large church setting (what we refer to as the Body of Christ).  Both are important. Worship requires not only attendance, but participation.  God is ready to meet us, if we are ready to experience God’s presence.  In worship (through Holy Communion, Baptism, Hearing of Scripture, Music and Prayer) we not only express our love to God, we also experience God’s grace and love for us.

I am not familiar or comfortable with worship.

o         Attend a worship service on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. or 10:55 a.m. in the Sanctuary (a bulletin is  provided with prayers and songs printed), the Connexion at 9:30 a.m. in Cupp Hall or on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. in Cupp Hall.

o   Read and/or listen to past sermons
